ABOUT THERESA
Born and raised in
Nova Scotia, Canada, this International Presentation Coach
and Judge brings 30 years of barbershop experience to
Harmony,
Inc., the
Barbershop
Harmony Society and now the world of
Sweet Adelines International.
Theresa became a certified Presentation Judge 1997 and
specializes in both choreography and performance packages. She
is currently the Harmony Incorporated Category Director
and a
Certified Director with the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Theresa has held many positions in her career
with Harmony, Inc. including Chapter President, costume chair,
publicity agent, show/scriptwriter, and her all time favorite,
choreographer. Her coaching and
judging skills have taken her all over
North America,
the UK , New Zealand and now Russia.
Not only is Theresa a teacher and a coach,
she is also a director of a Harmony, Inc. chorus called
the
Valley
Voices. Ironically, it was the first Harmony chorus Theresa ever sang
with back when she first
started in 1976.
Although
Theresa's first love
is the art of barbershop singing, she has had
experience with musical theatre and that
has given her more appreciation for the other art forms. She joined
the directing team
as a vocal coach and choreographer in the play
Glory Days. She can now add the experience of the
theatre to her coaching skills. Theresa
brings all the elements of the presentation category and life
experiences into her coaching sessions, believing that every
chorus and quartet has its own unique personality. Drawing upon
the performer’s individual characteristics, she helps the
performer discover and develop their stage personality, bringing
her own life experiences as a performer to both her coaching and
performance planning. |
